We are very excited to announce our combined Berkshire culinary team efforts in the world of social media with “The Whole Berkshire Hog” Dinner at the James Beard House on Friday, February 4th in New York City. Participating Berkshire restaurants, chefs, fans and marketing professionals are working together to create a dynamic online presence leading up to the event and behind the scenes in real time.
Our team welcomes Jeffrey Kingman, an executive chef in his former life and now a senior social media professional, to help lead the effort in spreading the good word as the event unfolds. Jeffrey brings creative and entrepreneurial skills to the Berkshire table. He is co-founder and CEO of chalkboarder.com, providing clients with social media services, strategic brand development and relationship engineering.
Jeffrey has created a YouTube and Flickr channel and will be tweeting, blogging and posting leading up to the event and as things are happening backstage in the kitchen. He participated off-site at the Berkshire Grown James Beard dinner in September of 2009 and will be alongside Berkshire chefs in the James Beard kitchen in less than two weeks.
Jeffrey’s background includes a three-year apprenticeship to internationally competing chef David Strouts and the role of working executive chef in ten different creative kitchens. He is fascinated with the emerging industry of social media and digital community management, sustainability, locally sourced foods and has been known to suffer from hyperactive entrepreneurial disorder.
Jane Watson of GreenPeasTV, who has been documenting the story pre-event, will also be on site capturing footage to produce a full episode featuring Berkshire food culture for her web channel.
We are hoping to extend the reach of this prestigious event where, not only are guests at the dinner receiving a full Berkshire culinary experience, fans of the Berkshires and our local food movement can participate in what we believe is a very exciting opportunity for our region.
